Bill and Cheryl Werner are co-owners of ERA Werner Realty, Inc a competitive real estate agency in the San Luis Valley. Bill had previously worked with Century 21 four years prior to joining ERA. During his 1^st year, his company acquired debt due to remodeling cost and start-up expenses. Without a business plan, Bill obtained start-up loans that were well in excess of the going business interest rate at the time. This is when Bill set out to get refinancing assistance. Bill started on his business plan in high hopes of getting a loan to refinance the debt. With the help of the Alamosa Business Support Center, he produced a business plan that would help get control of his cash flow. The banks would not loan to him. The company had simply lost too much money during its first year of business. It has been a struggle and he is still working on getting the loan, but the company is surviving and doing quite well. Bill is looking toward the future and continues to plan for future growth and expansion. With the help of the BSC he is currently looking to begin working as a locations scout for the film industry. Bill stated that the BSC staff, especially director Mary Hoffman, have been “very helpful” throughout the entire process. Hoffman always has answers or is willing to find them. Bill is a tremendously hard worker and a true success story.
